Questions and Answers

1.How do I use my existing domain name with Sensical.net?to top

If you already own a domain name and wish to use with your Sensical.net account you have 3 options which are listed below in order of preference. If you are not sure which options are open to you then contact Sensical.net with the details and you will be advised. Please note that at all times under all options, you will remain the legal owner of the domain name.

1.1.Full Domain Transferto top

This is the most comprehensive transfer available. Transfering your domain to Sensical.net identifies us as the controlling ISP for that particular domain which gives you full control over the domain and allows you to make any adjustments to the domain that you may wish. It also identifies Sensical.net as the billing contact for the domain which ensures that we will receive notifications from the central registrar when the domain is approaching its expiry date. We can then in turn notify you, which gives you ample opportunity to renew the name, should you wish.

Read the domain transfer checklist & process.

1.2.Nameserver Updateto top

Update your domain to use Sensical.net's nameserver. Your domain registrar will not change.

You will need to make the following changes to the "Nameserver Configuration" for your domain. This can be normally be done on the domain registrar's web site using the control-panel for your domain. Otherwise it can be done by contacting the domain registrar's support department.

    Primary Nameserver:     ns1.sensical.net   46.30.9.151
    Secondary Nameserver:   ns2.sensical.net   80.249.109.40
    Tertiary Nameserver:    ns3.sensical.net   84.45.97.35

1.3.DNS Pointingto top

Change the DNS record for your domain name so that it "points" to Sensical.net's servers. Your domain registrar will not change.

You will need to make the following changes to the DNS Zone Configuration for your domain (substitute mydomain.com with your actual domain name). This can be normally be done on the domain registrar's web site using the control panel for your domain. Otherwise it can be done by contacting the domain registrar's support department. Your domain registrar may charge you for this service.

If you wish to have a website on your domain then you need to set the following "CNAME" zone record:

    www.mydomain.com. IN CNAME web.sensical.net.

If you wish to have email with your domain then you also need to set the following "MX" zone records:

    mydomain.com. IN MX 0 mx1.sensical.net.
    mydomain.com. IN MX 5 mx2.sensical.net.
