Hosted Exchange and Apple® iOS® Devices

This page contains documentation on how to setup and use Sensical.net's Hosted Exchange (HEX) product with an Apple® iOS® devices. Please also see the general Sensical HEX documentation.

Note: These instructions are for Apple® iOS® version 4 devices such as the iPhone®, iPod® and iPad®. They should also be applicable to other iOS® operating system versions.

 

1. How to setup a Sensical HEX account with an Apple® iOS® deviceto top

  1. To add a Sensical HEX account to your iOS device, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange.

    On the next screen, as shown below, enter your full email address in the Email and Username fields, leave the Domain field empty, enter your Sensical.net password in the Password field, choose a account description for the Description field, then tap Next.

  2. Your device will now validate the information you have entered. It will then show you a screen asking for the Server as per the picture below. Enter hex1.sensical.net in the Server field, leave the other fields unchanged and tap the Next button.

  3. Next, as per the picture below, choose which type or types of data you would like to synchronise with your iOS device: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. Then tap Save. Note that by default, only three days' worth of email is synchronised. To synchronise more, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Sensical HEX account, and tap on Mail days to sync.

    Note that after configuring an Exchange account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iOS device is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes® no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iOS device wirelessly with MobileMe® services.
